City areas
Apart from the 4 main districts (North, West, East and Old city centre) with their own town halls, Perpignan is further divided into 9 cantons and several small districts.
- City centre
Features: There are plenty of bars, bistros and restaurants here, as well as many shopping venues.
Highlights: Castillet (former state prison) – nowadays houses the Catalan Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions
- Mediterranean beaches
Features: Of the 70 km of golden sand beaches, some are quite within easy reach (15 minutes) from Perpignan, more precisely about 15 km of Blue Flag beaches with many water sports facilities.
Highlights: Canet (casino included), Argelès and St Cyprien resorts
